The kid was traumatized from the moment we told him he was getting a new bed. The act of moving furniture only made things worse. He stood in the doorway to his room sobbing. When we asked if he wanted a new big bed he shook his head and cried, "No!" He calmed down enough to read stories and sing songs on the bed, but as soon as we tucked him in the crying started again. We took pity on the boy and moved him over to his crib (that we had left set up on the other half of the room due to his earlier reaction). This is going to be harder than we thought.Tuesday, July 28, 2009
Big Bed Day 1: Fail
The kid was traumatized from the moment we told him he was getting a new bed. The act of moving furniture only made things worse. He stood in the doorway to his room sobbing. When we asked if he wanted a new big bed he shook his head and cried, "No!" He calmed down enough to read stories and sing songs on the bed, but as soon as we tucked him in the crying started again. On that note, I'd just leave the bed in there & get him used to reading books & singing songs on it. He'll eventually warm up to the idea, but NO need to push the issue right now.
