Eric Hanging Out

Eric likes to sit and watch me cook dinner. Really, Eric just likes to sit and watch wherever the people are. The other night Ryan thought he looked too cute and a picture needed to be taken. I figured since a picture was taken it needed to be posted. So here is our little people watcher.

Its a party!

Somewhere Caden heard someone refer to a party and he decided he wanted to have one. Back before we all got sick we had a playdate scheduled with the neighbor boy so I convinced the boys it was a party. It didn't take much convincing. Aunt Kalina had left these fun party favors, and the boys had endless fun chasing each other around the house and blowing them.

A Railing, A Railing!

I get all giddy inside every time I walk down the hall. Saturday Ryan finished up two sections of our railing and installed them. When the third section gets finished he'll have to take these out and paint them, but its so exciting to see them in. And I think they are beautiful. I love just staring at them! Thanks, Ryan!

Easter Egg Hunt

I heard about a free Easter egg hunt at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center. I figured water and food don't mix, so I loaded Caden up and off we went. Since Daddy looked like a leper (allergy rash) he got sent home from work and was able to come serve as camera man for the adventure. Grandma Dodds had been previously requisitioned to be the official sideline entertainment for Eric. Caden was a little unsure about what he was supposed to be doing, so it was a good thing we'd gone around to the back side of the pool away from most of the kids.
After the eggs were gathered they let the kids stay and swim for an hour. I figured Caden would last about 30 minutes. As it turned out, he was the last child out of the swimming pool at the end of the hour and I drug him out kicking and screaming. See that smile on his face? It was permanently plastered there the entire time.

We did convince Caden to get out of the pool long enough to take a picture with the Easter Bunny. He didn't understand what the big deal was. Neither did Eric. At least we have proof the whole family attended.

Where have we been?

I'm sure you've all been up at nights wondering why I haven't blogged in - gasp - over two weeks! Its nothing glamorous, we've just been fighting the worst cold ever. To sum up, it started with both boys having runny noses. Eric's turned into a sinus infection. While Caden was healing he got hit with a second round of something that gave him a cough bad enough for the pediatrician to diagnose 'viral induced asthma.' We put Eric on antibiotics and purchased a humidifier for Caden. As the boys slowly started to heal, they passed it to Ryan and me. We ended up at instacare with sinus and ear infections and got put on antibiotics. I fel like I was instantly healed, but Ryan got progressively worse. After a few days, we realized he was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotic, so back to the instacare he went for 4 more prescriptions. Yesterday marked 3 days since the runny noses started, and I think its finally safe to say we're all better (except for Ryan's allergic reaction that will take a few days to kick out of his system).

Mr. Potato Head likes cars and is happy to share his glasses. Just ask Caden.

Its Done!

Ryan finished our master bathroom shower last week! I've been delinquent in my blogging and didn't get a picture up as soon as I should have. Doesn't it look professional?

Spring Fever

Spring is in the air and at our house we couldn't be happier. We have all missed our outside time while we've been holed up for winter. With the warmer weather the last few weeks we've been trying to spend at least an hour a day outside again. Its particularly fun when the other neighborhood kids are out as well, but Caden has a permanant playmate in Doggy. He insists doggy be zipped into his jacket to be kept warm, then he narrates everything his does to him. "Look, Doggy! The ball is rolling away! Lets go get it!"

Two Little Teeth

Our little baby is growing up way too fast. His first two teeth popped through a few weeks ago, sometime around the 6.5 month mark. Check out how happy he is! I love his new toothy grin. His new toothy nursing bite, not so much.

Music Time!

Caden loves music. I think he has his dad's ear for perfect pitch. Karlee brought us a dvd of all the Pixar short films, and Caden knows which one will be coming on just by hearing the first three notes of the music. He likes to sing and dance to music. But mostly, he likes live music. Especially when Ryan is the one providing it. He likes to get right up on the piano bench when Ryan's on the piano, and a few weeks ago got a real treat when daddy let him slide the bow across the violin. For some reason Caden doesn't like my music as much. When I get out my guitar or sit down at the piano I'm met with a tantrum and cries of "no, mommy, no!"
