Trick or Treat!

We've had a weekend full of Halloween festivities. Friday we took the boys trick or treating at Ryan's work, then went to the food free carnival sponsored by my allergy support group, UFAN. The boys had a blast!

Saturday morning we carved pumpkins. Eric was enthralled with the guts coming out of his little pumpkin, and Caden got a kick out of helping daddy design the face for his.

And here are my boys are bundled up and ready to go trick or treating in the rain. Poor Bob the Builder (aka Caden) couldn't decide which was worse - staying out in the freezing cold rain or going home before his bucket was full. Eric knew which was worse and went home after just one house. Caden loved running from house to house, and I dare say having puddles to splash in only added to the adventure.

He Speaks!

I'm not sure when it happened, but sometime in the last few weeks Eric started speaking English. In addition to yes, he now says Mama, Dada, Bruh-ter, out, down, le ho (let go), bah-boe (bubbles), and day do (thank you). So cute!

Well Check Stats

I know you've all been anxiously awaiting the boys' well check stats. Thanks for your patience. :)

At 12 months, Eric came in on the same growth curve he's been on since his 3 month check up.
Length: 29.5 inches, 25%
Weight: 19 lbs 1 oz, 20%
Head: 44.2 inches, 5%

At 3 years, Caden has graduated to the big boy growth charts. You'll notice they now measure his 'height' instead of his 'length.' We were very pleased with his growth. In July when we made the decision to go to the feeding tube Caden hadn't grown since January. Last week at his well check he'd not only grown, but he's jumped up to a new growth curve. He'd been hanging around the 25% for a few years after starting out closer to 90% at birth. He may or may not catch back up to his original growth curve, but we feel like this was a step in the right direction.
Height: 37 inches, 50%
Weight: 33.4 lbs, 50%

State Fair 2010

We went to the State Fair this year on September 17. I'm just now getting around to blogging about it. Caden's favorite animals this year were the chickens. I think he's still a little intimidated by the massing of the bigger animals. Aunt Kellie spoiled Caden by riding the carnival kiddie roller coaster with him.

We did the Little Hands of the Farm exhibit again, like we have in the past. Eric loved 'planting his seed' in the sandbox and stayed there for a bit while Caden finished the rest of the activities.

Eric's favorite part of the adventure was the apple he 'earned' by completing his chores at Little Hands on the Farm. No one was separating that boy from his treat.

Then Grandpa Dodds sprung for a ride down the giant slide. It was my first time, and I loved it! The boys were pretty impressed, too. I love that we've made going to the Fair a fun family tradition.

Mighty Machines

Caden is fascinated with big trucks and tractors. Its pretty common for us to pull off to the side of the road and watch if we see machines as work. You can imagine how excited he was to get to climb on some of the fair. I was a little suprised at how much Eric liked them as well. He was just as into them as big brother and insisted on getting in every machine. We drug both boys away from this exhibit crying. I'm not sure if that is because they were having so much fun or if it was just becuase they up past bedtime.

When I grow up...

Caden wants to be a race car driver. He's practicing his "I'm so cool" pose already. Its a little scary how comfortable he looks leaning up against that car he found on display at the State Fair.

The Flu

Caden has the flu. His first time. In between bouts of being a seriously unhappy camper he has said some pretty funny things.

"Mama. Take me to the doctor. He give me little pokes (shots) and put a bandaid on my mouf and I feel all better."
"Mama! Help! Where's my bucket?" As he thows up on his blanket six inches from the bowl.
"Oh, I know! The sun will make me better. Lets go outside and when the sun wakes up I be all better." Cue big cheesy grin.
