Getting Creative

Its laundry day at our house, which among other things means lots of empty hangers in the closet.  Caden took advantage of this available art medium and created a unique sculpture of sorts.  It hung all day so daddy could see it when he got home from work.

Itty Bitty Basketball

Our local recreation center offers in intro to sports Itty Bitty Sports class.  Each month is a different sport and its very reasonably priced.  I've been trying Eric out in the class for the last few months with mixed results, but since this month is basketball and Caden is obsessed with basketball I thought I'd put both boys in.  Eric was still just lukewarm, but Caden was in heaven.  He listened to the coaches and made the corrections they suggested in his form and over the 6 sessions improved his skills tremendously (the ball makes it in the hoop more often than not, and he can dribble across the length of the floor).

A Day of Play

Ahh, President's Day.  One of those odd holidays that the kids get off from school but most of the adults still have to work for.  As luck would have it, Aunt Kellie had the day off so she thought it would be fun to take the boys to Scheels to ride the ferris wheel.  Grandma came along, too, and it was a good thing since Kyle was too little to ride and had to watch from below with mommy.  Eric was a little nervous to ride at first, but as he was getting off his only question was whether he could ride again.  Caden is a little engineer and kept trying to figure out how it worked.

After the ferris wheel we looked at the fish, played a quick round of mini bowling, and climbed on the display animals.  Grandpa had a break between meetings and popped in to say hi just as we were wrapping up.  Thanks for a fun day, Aunt Kellie.

Ryan's Woodbadge Beads

If you've never heard of Woodbadge, you must not spend excessive amounts of time scouting like our family.    Woodbadge is a fairly intense training for Boy Scout leaders.  First, they attend a 6 day 'retreat' of classes and hands on activities.  Then they set goals in six different areas and have a little over a year to complete their goals.  Ryan finished up his last goal at the beginning of January and was awarded his beads at the Court of Honor tonight.  His Patrol Leader made the presentation - go Eagle Patrol!  His parents and sister surprised us and came down to watch.  Congrats, Ryan!  We are so proud of you!

Kyle's First Haircut

Ryan would have done it months ago, but I was finally ready to admit that Kyle has both a mohawk and a mullet.  So today when I was cutting the other boys' hair I sat Kyle up with the cape as well.  I still could only bring myself to trim it, but he does look much nicer.  Plus, he's just so cute sitting in the chair with the cape I might actually do it again sooner rather than later.
