Brigham City, Utah Temple Open House

(Rendering from the lds.org website)

Since Ryan, my dad, and my sister all had the day off work, for Memorial Day we went to Brigham City to tour the new LDS temple there.  We had reserved tickets online the first day they became available and were excited to get such a desirable date and time.  Turns out a few thousand other people also thought it was a desirable date and time, and when they couldn't get tickets they just decided to show up.  We were there on the busiest day of the open house, during the busiest time.  It took us 4 hours to get through the line and tour, and we even skipped the wait from the parking lot to the temple by having my dad drop us off.

I'll admit, by the time we finally got to the temple I wasn't really feeling the spirit.  Amazingly, my boys were.  Our typically crazy Kyle was calm and quiet, taking it all in from his perch on daddy's shoulders.  The only time he made noise was when we were going through the Celestial Room, where he yelped loudly the entire time, then he went silent again as soon as he left.  Eric enjoyed taking in all the pictures.  There was one picture of Christ in particular that he didn't want to move on from.  Caden reverently walked through and asked lots of great questions.

I'm grateful my boys had the opportunity to walk through a house of the Lord.  I look forward to taking them again in a few years when the Payson and Provo temples have their open houses.  I pray that these little experiences will put the desire in their hearts to live worthy so they may return to the temple when they are old enough.
