Waiting for Baby

I have about 6 more weeks left in this pregnancy.  While that seems like a short time to Ryan and a long time to me, Caden thinks its an eternity.  He asks about 20 times a day when his baby will come out of my tummy.  He is convinced I'm being a mean mommy to keep the baby in my tummy, as evidenced by the fact he saw the baby kicking the other day and he's sure the baby was trying to get out.  He plans to be the perfect big brother.  As Caden puts it, "I will hold the baby on my yap all day so he won't be yoneyee (lonely)."  He has even attempted to practice by holding baby Eric on his lap.  Eric, who no longer considers himself a baby, is a very confused participant in these practice sessions.  Caden is also trying to convince us that he is growing bigger every day, so when the baby gets here he'll be big enough to hold the baby standing up, like a mommy or a daddy.

For his part, Eric loves babies and dolls.  At nursery he takes the dolls, carefully wraps them in a blanket, lays them on a pillow, then proceeds to lay on top of the doll and say, "awwww."  The poor things get smothered with love.  Whenever he sees a real baby he gets as close as he can without touching it and stays there, watching the baby's every move.  When I try to move him back or take him away he screams and cries as if I'm cutting off his right arm.

I'm thinking adding new baby to our home will be quite the adventure, in more ways than one.

Oh my! This is so funny! I can't wait to hear how the boys do with the new little one. I'll be there to meet him in another 8 or so weeks!
