Camp Floyd

For Memorial Day we went out to Camp Floyd to see their Civil War reenactment.  Grandpa Loveridge heard us planning our visit and decided to come with.  He had relatives who lived out there and ran the inn.  It was pretty cool to see that with him.  We all piled into the stagecoach for a short ride around the block.  The boys were thrilled.  It made me appreciate modern modes of transportation even more.  We saw demonstrations on making apple cider, artillery firing, weaving, and spinning.  They had a place where the kids could dress up like soldiers (Caden was too shy to do it), and they had men dressed in period uniforms describing the history of Camp Floyd.

We watched a short documentary in the gift shop, then went to the old school house to play games.  Caden loved the hoop, and Eric was right at home with a little ball on a string.  Ryan helped Caden dip a candle and Caden was so proud of it he carried it around the rest of the day.  It was a fun outing.
