Potty Training
Ever since the new year we've been working on potty training Caden. It hasn't been much work, really, since he was so old and so ready. The problem has been that we were encouraged by the doctors not to potty train until we got the bowel thing worked out, and with it not being worked out and a solution not really on the horizon I attempted to half potty train Caden. Which meant I left him in pull ups and taught him just to pee in the toilet. It worked great, until he figured out a pull up was really just a fancy diaper. He decided to only go to the bathroom if it was convenient. So the bribery began. I broke out the sticker chart. Caden filled the first one up in 3 days. This one is taking considerably longer, partially because Caden doesn't seem to get the concept that he is supposed to fill up all the squares. He likes to arrange the stars in families (the little ones are babies, and they all need to be by a 'friend' of the same color). Notice how ordered he is. You may not be able to see it, but even the smiley faces have an order. Sidways ones are by sideways ones, glasses by glasses, etc. As he places each sticker he tells me why it went in that box. He is also very protective of his sticker chart. He wanted it moved up higher on the wall (to about 4.5 feet tall), "so daddy won't get it."
