Farmington, New Mexico

Last weekend we went with Ryan’s family to visit his sister and brother in law in New Mexico. Rick, Karen, and Kara drove down in a mini van with us and Kalina flew in from Houston.
Kiddo traveled really well for the most part. We got him out and walked him around at every stop so he could stretch his legs. At one stop Caden didn’t have his shoes on so Ryan decided to work with what he had. Shawn and Karlee gave us a fantastic locals tour of the area, including all the best places to eat. We had one meal at Serious Texas BBQ and I could eat everything on the plate! It was a picture worthy moment. Caden liked playing with the helium balloon and it kept him entertained for the better part of that meal.

We spent Friday at Chaco Canyon hiking the Indian ruins there. It was a pretty interesting park and one I’d like to go back to someday. I do hope they pave the access road between now and then, though. The van was literally falling to pieces it was vibrating so bad. In the picture on the bottom left Caden is dropping a lizard tail that Shawn gave him to hold – it was still moving.

These pictures are all of Pueblo Bonito, one of the largest Pueblo structures ever found. The site covers over 2 acres and contains 650-800 rooms. It took us over an hour to walk around and through the whole thing.

Caden alternated between Ryan’s shoulders, Shawn’s arms, and my Snugli pack. We haven’t gotten around to purchasing a hiking backpack yet, so we were lucky the hikes were fairly easy.

On Saturday we drove in to Durango, Colorado and saw the sights there. We made a stop at Honeyville and tasted the flavored honeys, then went on to a calcified hot spring further up the canyon road. We rounded off the day by sweet talking our way into two of the Parade of Homes houses without paying and shopping on Main Street in Durango.
