For FHE we were going over this picture in the Friend that helps children identify ways they can be of service. We were trying to prompt Caden to discuss it with us.Me: "Do you see ways you could help people in this picture?" -silence- "How about the baby who dropped his toy? What could Caden do to serve a baby who drops his toy?" -silence-
Ryan: "Here, Caden. Lets pretend baby Eric is playing with this toy car, and he drops it. Do you think you could serve Eric by handing the toy back to him?" -silence-
Me: -moving on- "Do you see the trash in this picture? How can you be of service if you see trash on the ground?" -silence- "What do we do with trash?"
-Caden gets off the couch and starts to walk out of the room-
Me: "Wait, we're not done with family night. Come back." -silence, the boy keeps walking-
Ryan: "Where are you going, Caden?"
-a few seconds later Caden returns with the small trash can from the computer room-
Caden: "Caden go get the trash. Put it away."
-he takes the small trash can into the kitchen, where he begins to empty it into our larger kitchen trash can. Once finished he rejoins us on the couch.-
Caden: "More famie night?"

Now, that's just too precious. See, he's getting it, just in his own way. Very sweet!!!
