A Day of Doctors

Yesterday was a day of doctors for us. We started the morning at my midwife. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time! She said everything is looking good and growth is right on track.

After lunch we went to Salt Lake for Caden's allergist appointment. He was skin prick tested for milk, egg, wheat, corn, black beans, oat, flax, and generic Zyrtec (at my request). Everything was still deep into the positive territory and a few of the foods had a larger reaction than they did 6 months ago. That means he is still in flux. We were expecting that since most allergies don't settle until age 3-5. A few foods were taken off my list of foods I can trial at home and we were told to keep doing more of the same. The doctor recommended we introduce quinoa and millett to his diet to get more variety in the grain department. I'd looked at quinoa before, but its always processed with corn (as in when its made into pasta). Plain quinoa looks like little bb's. It should be interesting to try. We go back in July and will do both blood testing and skin prick testing at that appointment.

As I have said, I really like cooked quinoa. The little bbs fluff up and it can be a nice change from rice. I wonder if it can be ground up to be used for flours in things. Good luck on all of that. I know what food issues are like!

Oh and how is he on soy? The amino acids are soy based.
